"FCS Alsterwasser" Incident

During a test run after maintenance of the “FCS Alsterwasser", at the shipyard in Oorkaten, Germany on 28 April 2010 the onboard lead-acid batteries overheated. Due to this overheating, a fire in the battery compartment ensued. Thereafter, the fire department was able to quickly put the fire out. The cause of the fire is not yet been determined, as the official investigation is underway. A statement on the level of damage will be made available in the near future.

FCS "Alsterwasser" starts into the new season

Among the first guests of the season E.ON Hanse took advantage of the possibilities and organized a work shop for its "Zero-Emission" contest for students onboard of the fuel-cell ship.

In April the Alster Touristik GmbH has started its regular service at the Hamburg inland waters again. The FCS "Alsterwasser" is the first ship within the "White Fleet" of ATG, counting a total of 18 ships, propelled by an innovative fuel-cell hybrid drive.

Honoured: Technology of tomorrow

FCS Alsterwasser has honourably received the f-cell award in silver. Besides Zemships a joint project of the German Aerospace Center and Airbus of Germany has been honoured with the f-cell award in silver as well.

At the end of August Hamburg celebrated a world premier: the first fuel cell driven ship using a system of 100 kW, FCS Alsterwasser, has started its regular line service. Just a few weeks after the ship naming ceremony the project has now been awarded with the f-cell award in silver. Especially the application orientation of the project impressed the jury.

FCS “Alsterwasser” celebrates its world premier on the Alsterlake

The first fuel cell passenger ship with a fuel cell propulsion system has been launched and will be operated by ATG

Hamburg. On August 29th the first commercially used fuel cell passenger ship has been put into service on the Alster lake in Hamburg. From now on up to 100 passengers will be able to enjoy their ride on the inner city lake and its connected canals-without generating any local emissions.
