FCS "Alsterwasser" starts into the new season

Among the first guests of the season E.ON Hanse took advantage of the possibilities and organized a work shop for its "Zero-Emission" contest for students onboard of the fuel-cell ship.

In April the Alster Touristik GmbH has started its regular service at the Hamburg inland waters again. The FCS "Alsterwasser" is the first ship within the "White Fleet" of ATG, counting a total of 18 ships, propelled by an innovative fuel-cell hybrid drive.

Around 25 students and teachers from Hamburg participated, preparing for their competition entry at the "Zero-Emission" contest of E.ON Hanse. Thoroughly prepared by Ms. Andrea Cammann of E.ON Hanse the competiton has been a huge success last year, already held for the second time this year. More information about the contest can be found under www.Die-Zero-Emission.de. The final of the contest is scheduled to take place on the first of Juli at the Center for school biology and environmental teaching (ZSU). Like the technology of the FCS "Alsterwasser" the fuel cell applications that will be presented by the students are designed for the use on waterways. Especially the criteria of functionality and energy effiency are supposed to be considerd by the students.

By applying state-of-the-art technology the FCS "Alsterwasser" effectively contributes to the active decrease of local CO2-emissions of the "White Fleet" of ATG on the Alster lake and provides technical data obtained by daily use. In this respect it is a practical approach for the technical experts of tomorrow worth taking a closer look at. It might help developing new even better technical ideas. In addition to regular line service, charter and channel tours are offered as well as "Fleetfahrten". For more information concerning the daily service of the fuel-cell hybrid ship please contact the Alster Touristik GmbH directly. We wish all the best to the students taking part in the contest!
